Pickerings are proud to be supporting MW Benney on an exciting project for Torbay Council. After standing derelict for over 12 years, the historic Pavilion on Torbay’s seafront is finally set to be restored to its former glory. Following a lengthy process, Torbay Council successfully regained control of the building in 2024 and have ambitious plans for its revival.

This project carries particular significance for MW Benney, a well-established local construction firm, as the Pavilion’s original build was completed over a century ago by Narracotts Builders — the very company from which MW Benney Ltd is directly descended.

When MW Benney required high-quality welfare and office accommodation for their site team, they turned to Pickerings. The site presented a logistical challenge, with restricted space surrounded by public areas including a large car park, shopping centre, and taxi rank.

Given the complexities of the location, delivery and installation were meticulously coordinated. Pickerings deployed two experienced drivers to safely deliver and position the units within the tight, high-traffic environment without disruption.

To meet the project’s needs, Pickerings provided a carefully planned solution comprising two 21ft welfare units, a storage container, and a block of toilets. To enhance MW Benney’s presence on this prestigious local project, the units were sprayed and fitted with custom livery to maximise their branding visibility.

The result? A smart, functional, and well-presented site setup delivered on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. We’re delighted to have supported MW Benney on this landmark project and look forward to working together on future opportunities.

The temporary facilities in Manchester will be used on site for around 200 workers during the two-year project.

The process of hiring these cabins from Pickerings was made easy. The artwork design and layouts were provided by them and after a swift approval process they turned up within a few weeks and looked even better in the flesh!
