Pickerings Two Storey Prima modular building

 

BAM Construct UK Ltd is part of the European construction enterprise, Royal BAM Group. It is one of the most successful construction and property services companies in the country.

Bam was working on a major project at Cardiff University. The Centre for Student Life is part of the biggest campus upgrade in a generation. It will provide a heart to the Cathays Campus and a new home for student support services offering extra social study spaces, consultation rooms, a 550-seat auditorium and quiet contemplation spaces.

Additional workspace was needed on site for a large workforce and Bam decided to use a modular building as it had provided all the necessary facilities on other sites. Bam had been pleased with high quality modular buildings and excellent customer service from Pickerings and they were contacted to provide a temporary solution.

Pickerings designed, supplied and installed a two-storey Prima modular building with all the necessary facilities. It comprised 32 modules and included a range of larger and smaller offices, canteen, toilets and showers. Access to the upper floor was provided by steel staircase and landing. Particular attention was given to providing protection against coronavirus (Covid -19.)

The modular building was due to be placed on an existing tarmac car park and to avoid costly and lengthy groundwork with the risk of damage to the surface Pickerings provided temporary foundation pads that were quickly and easily installed on site.

Users from Bam Construction at Cardiff University are very pleased with their temporary modular building which is scheduled to be in use for one year.
